Now that the date of the next Federal Election has been confirmed at July 2nd, 2016, the AVN would like to ask everyone reading this to carefully consider who they will – and will not – support in the upcoming election.
Please note that the AVN’s Code of Ethics specifically prohibits our organisation from promoting any political views. We are perfectly within our rights, however, to inform the public of the policies and viewpoints of the parties that will be standing candidates for public office.
Politicians are our representatives; they are our employees (in their roles as public servants). They are supposed to be our voice in Parliament. If they do not represent our views, treat us with disrespect or threaten to take away the rights our families have come to expect as citizens of a democratic nation, it is not only our right, but our DUTY to oppose their election.
Below is a copy of the letter that was sent to every federal political party registered with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC).
We will be posting the party’s responses as soon as they come in, so please bookmark this page (and share it widely on social media, via email and on your own blogs) and pay us a visit often to view the status of party responses.
To whom it may concern:
I am writing on behalf of the Australian Vaccination-skeptics Network, Inc. (AVN) and our tens of thousands of members and followers across Australia to ask for your assistance in helping us distribute information that may be helpful in their decision-making process regarding the up-coming July, 2016 election.
Our members and supporters believe that a parent must always have the final say in health and other parenting issues when it comes to their own children. This single issue will be a game-changer for many of them.
To help them make an informed choice on July 2nd, could you please forward by return email your written policy in regards to both No Jab, No Pay / No Play legislation and the right of Australian citizens to make free and informed health choices for their families without financial penalty or discrimination.
If your party has no written policy on these issues, please forward a statement from the party leadership that speaks to your position on these vital issues.
Since the election is less than 2 months away, we would appreciate your response no later than close of business on Monday, May 23rd.
Your responses will be posted on our website at www.avn.org.au and will be shared widely on social media as well. Should you not respond, that will be noted too.
Our members and supporters are intelligent, informed individuals who will share their voting decisions widely within their own community.
