Hi, I’m David Wied, 11 yrs. old. I used to be a normal kid, before I had the hepatitis B vaccine.
I used to be able to swim, go to school, play soccer and a lot
more. Now I can’t do any of those things. When I get up in
the morning it takes me 10 or 15 minutes because I’m so stiff and in a
lot of pain. My joints, muscles, my whole body aches all
day. I’m exhausted when I wake up, even after 11 hours of
sleep. I have to remember to put on sunglasses (even indoors) if
it is sunny because the light makes me tired and gives me headaches.
My parents have to tell me to eat because I never feel hungry, just
nauseous. I can’t go to school so a tutor comes to our house. My hands
hurt so much that writing is almost impossible. I have to take a
lot of breaks otherwise I get so stiff I feel like I’ll explode.
I can’t run and play, I get really dizzy, my heart beats fast and weird
and I can’t see for a while. I did play with my friends for my
birthday, but then I was even sicker for 2 weeks. Loud noise
makes me tired and dizzy. When we went to the mall to get my
glasses fixed, I felt like I was going to pass out. I’m becoming
allergic to all kinds of things like toothpaste. I fall over if I bump
into something. Hopefully, at night I can go to sleep. A lot of
times I’m really jumpy and can’t sleep at all. This is my day now, not
like a regular kid.
